The top performing international stock funds have had returns of 50% to 70% from Jul 1997 to Jun 1998 in Australian dollars. The depreciation of the Australian dollar is responsible for as much as 50% of these high performing funds' higher returns. The best performing funds have had little or no hedging. If the Australian dollar increases in value, these returns will cease.
