Is Saatchi helping Publicis bottom line?
Article Abstract:
Kevin Roberts, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi in New York, is planning to remain focused during the business slowdown, focused on creative ad campaigns. He wants to leave the other more traditional marketing services to his parent company, France's Publicis Groupe, and Publicis' other units. He thinks that's the best way for Saatchi to contribute to the parent's bottom line. Eight months into the acquisition hasn't proven that it was a dramatically good or bad decision. So far, Publicis is letting Saatchi run itself independently.

Publicis makes strides amid poor climate
Article Abstract:
French advertising giant Publicis S.A. has announced the acquisition of a small San Francisco marketing firm, FusionDM. Chief executive Maurice Levy says the move conveys the message that the company will not let the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks affect its plans. In the wake of the terrorist attacks, Publicis is one of the few international advertising firms that expects to meet its financial targets. Although some clients are cutting their ad spending, Publicis will continue to shop for businesses to purchase, Mr. Levy says.
