Labor utilization effects of labor scheduling flexibility alternatives in a tour scheduling environment
Article Abstract:
The effect of a number of scheduling flexibility alternatives on labor utilization within a tour scheduling environment is analyzed. Results show that break-placement flexibility and shift-length flexibility are effective in improving labor utilization under any conditions. Moreover, high labor requirement amplitude is found to be inimical to labor utilization, while longer operational days improve labor utilization.
