Issues concerning the diversification of Australian law firms into non-legal professional services are discussed. Moves by some firms to offer business advisory service and the drawbacks of a traditional law partnership system are examined.

NRMA returns from its banking detour

The Australian company NRMA Insurance Group announced in June 2001 that it plans to sell its banking subsidiary, NRMA Building Society. The insurance group bought the bank in 1997 intending to provide a range of financial services.
