Article Abstract:
In next three to four decades, capital cities are forecast to decline in terms of their share of the population other urban areas are forecast to increase their share of the population from the present 30% to about 50% by 2050.The economic, social and technological trends associated with the decline of capital city populations including strong growth in travel, tourism and other recreational services are discussed.
