Limit theory for performance modeling of future event set algorithms
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the interaction hold model, a stochastic framework for future event set performance evaluation, associated with the superposition of a fixed number of renewal procedures. The general state-space Markov chain established by discrete-time processes was recurrent while its stationary distribution was determined. The interaction hold model was utilized to examine two popular future event sets, namely, linked lists and indexed lists. Findings showed tips on deciding whether to scan from the head or tail of the list during cases of linked lists. Results also indicated that when events in a simulation support different mean lifetimes, it is better to scan a list from its head rather than tail.

Experiments with initial transient deletion for parallel, replicated steady-state simulations
Article Abstract:
The parallel replications method can be used to estimate steady-state performance measures. The properties of several estimators that can be derived using this method are compared using queuing network simulation experiments. The comparison of the estimators' statistical properties indicate that a nonstandard estimation procedure that uses a ratio estimator is needed for highly parallel machines.

A batch means methodology for estimation of a nonlinear function of a steady-state mean
Article Abstract:
A steady-state performance measure estimate representing a simulation output is examined, using classical, batch means, and jackknife point estimators. Results indicate jackknife provides the smallest bias if run length is large enough.
