Listings, takeovers change the old order
Article Abstract:
The top 500 list of private Australian companies changed from 1997 to 1998. For example, 58 companies were dropped from the 1998 list. Some firms that were on the 1997 list failed to grow, some businesses earned lower revenues, and 12 companies were acquired by other companies. Some became public companies, choosing to list on the Australian Stock Exchange. Several automotive retailers were among the businesses cut for losing revenue or slowing growth.
