Predicting spot exchange rates in a nonlinear estimation framework using futures prices
Article Abstract:
A model based on futures prices and spot prices (SPFP) proves to be useful in out-of-sample forecasts of spot exchange rates. SPFP model that utilizes ordinary least squares technique creates a superb 30-day-ahead forecasting range. FPSP models backed by neural networks and locally weighted regression techniques also yield better spot exchange rate forecasts.
