Mario's Kind of Market
Article Abstract:
Mario Gabellie is a stock analyst who specializes in leveraged buyouts and takeover possibilities. His philosophy of investing is to figure out what a company would be worth if it were to go private. This gives his private market value, on which he bases buying decisions. In order to make this determination you have to go beyond the business' value to determine its worth. For this, you must look for a catalyst, some kind of event. Finding out why a company begins to invest in another company is also important. Leveraged buyouts (LBOs) are another strategy to watch for potential profits, though many times the price to stockholders has not been fair. He discusses some recent takeovers and their stocks. He believes the broadcasting industry presents many values.

Rounding Bottom
Article Abstract:
Many investors are now trying to determine whether the stock market has bottomed. One investment advisor believes that picking the exact bottom of the market is not necessary. He believes the stock market tops out and bottoms on a rotational basis. This is a pattern established since 1979 when the Federal Reserve System changed its monetary policy. Now, market tops and bottoms can be anticipated by the number of new lows (or highs) achieved in one week. A diminishing number of new lows would show that downward momentum has waned.
