Medicare losing costs fight

The Health Insurance Commission (HIC) committed itself to spend more than $120 million to update Medicare systems that handle more than 220 million claims a year. But administration costs are still rising and there are no signs of the promised efficiencies and a large part of the problem is that relatively few medical practitioners have adopted the new HIC online system required to automate the claims process.
