Mentoring - implementation and enhancement of the TRL scheme
Article Abstract:
The Transport Research Laboratory introduced a mentoring scheme as a way of motivating staff who were becoming disheartened with their work environment and career prospects. New staff were given a mentor for six months while staff studying for a degree or professional qualification were also given a mentor to help them. Guidelines on confidentiality, how often to meet and how to evaluate progress were drawn up and the mentors underwent a training course to explain the purpose of mentoring and how to do it effectively. The scheme has been a success.

Working with emotions in the change process: using drawings for team diagnosis and development
Article Abstract:
Drawings can be a valuable diagnostic tool for team development, as they can reveal hidden emotional issues. When interpreting and working with drawings, it is important to consider what feelings are conveyed by the drawings, who is doing the interpretation, the specific features to which particular attention should be given and the emotional responses which arise from the process of being asked to draw. When used effectively, drawings can allow teams to work together on their emotional and strategic experience.
