Mercedes-Benz ousts Lowe from account
Article Abstract:
Naturally, there are different spins on the same story, but the fact remains, Mercedes-Benz of North America has fired its long-time ad agency Lowe & Partners with a telephone call. The relationship actually started with the agency that Lowe Group acquired in 1993, Scali/McCabe/Sloves. It's been downhill ever since Lowe's co-chairman Marvin Sloves retired Dec. 31st and no one introduced his replacement to Mercedes, a man who was being groomed since the previous June. The automaker now says that a possible conflict of interest makes it a good time to change agencies. Lowe lost an account worth $100 million in billings.
