Oracle unveils database, kills pricing plan

Oracle introduces Oracle9i, the most recent edition of its database software. Larry Ellison, CEO of the software concern, also announced that they have dropped an pricing plan based on charging customer according to the spped of the computer the database runs on. They have instead decided to charge according to the number of processing units.

Microsoft yields ground on Windows XP; PC makers may remove access to its browser; sales forecast lifts stock

Due to the last ruling on Microsoft's sales and marketing tactics, the company is allowing computer manufacturers to put any Web browsers of their choice on the new Windows XP desktop. Soon after, the new version of the Windows operating system will be launched. The move comes about five years too late to do AOL or Netscape any good. Talks with 'government parties' will continue. Microsoft also announced that its fiscal fourth quarter revenue will be stronger than anticipated.
