Money laundering
Article Abstract:
The Money Laundering Control Act of 1986 mandates that currency transaction reports be submitted by certain institutions to the IRS within 15 days of cash transactions exceeding $10,000 made by a single depositor in a day. Casinos are one such institution covered by this law. The expensive penalties resulting from the violation of the Money Laundering Act have made careful casino internal auditing a necessity. It is the job of internal auditors to develop and introduce internal controls that would manage, check and examine all money laundering type transactions. Casinos have also began training their employees regarding compliance with the Act. The focus of employee training programs is the education of casino patrons about laundering regulations without losing customer patronage.
