Natural gas (distribution)
Article Abstract:
Reduced demand for natural gas and higher interest rates have led to lower share prices for gas utilities and distributors in early 1999, and this is likely to continue for the coming year. Deregulation has yet to be the windfall for the industry that many had expected, but gas distributors have moved into nonregulated areas, such as wholesaling, through subsidiaries. Dividend gains for these stocks are expected to be slow, and investors need to select the highest quality stocks for commitment.
