Article Abstract:
Motorola Inc is introducing its Voice Markup Language (VoxML) for writing voice-activated software for retrieving content from the Internet. Motorola will probably submit VoxML to an Internet standards-setting institution, according to Internet services div mgr Maria Martinez. Motorola's internet site will be used to distribute a VoxML software development kit. Martinez also said that several unnamed companies are already planning to use Motorola's VoxML to develop software, and Motorola itself will use the language to improve its phones and pagers.
