Baby-boomers, who are in the age group of forty to sixty years, have provided an impetus for growth in the beauty and cosmetic business, as they represent the big spenders on cosmetic surgery and beauty treatments in the hope of delaying the signs of age. There has been an increase in the use of cosmetic surgery and other treatments like Botox and collagen injections, even at the cost of financial strain and physical discomfort.

The experience of Pan Pharmaceuticals and Nova Health hospital companies' shareholder that consists of a series of unhappy stories on the health and biotechnology sector is described. The vendors accepted Nova shares as 70% of the purchase price, but later as the price dropped drastically from $1 in April 2002 to 21 cents they were heart fallen.
