On rigor and relevance: Fostering dialectic progress in management research
Article Abstract:
An argument is presented that only a systematic change can synthesize both the relevance and rigor of public sector management. Real progress, following dialectic theory, would not be achieved by finding some balance between the two, but by reconciling the thesis and the antithesis at a higher level of abstraction and understanding, and helping organizations become more effective, efficient and profitable is a great way to help build society.
