On the Internet, lifting the velvet rope
Article Abstract:
Nightclubbing has arrived in the computer age. Web sites like Groovetech, of Groovetech L. L.C, are broadcasting live feeds from popular nightclubs over the Internet, enabling one to have a virtual experience of club life without leaving home. Raveworld.net, another site which focuses on ages 15 to 24, also includes Webcasts from raves. In some cases, clubs like Ten 15 send their own Webcasts. Most of the webcasts are free while some, like The Womb, have a minimal charge of $2 for a six-hour feed. Other clubs like New York's Twilo are thinking of charging for Webcasts of live DJ mixes.

Qualcomm, Motorola end cell-phone patent suits

Qualcomm Inc. and Motorola Inc. have dismissed all patent claims and counter-claims against each other. Both companies indicated that the patent infringement suits were interfering with efforts to establish new business relationships centered around Qualcomm's digital-wireless technology known as CDMA, or code division multiple access. Qualcomm no longer makes the cellular telephones Motorola claimed patent to and the companies have agreed to a moratorium on suits based on the CDMA technology. Motorola is free to market cell phones using CDMA, which it is licensing from Qualcomm.
