Article Abstract:
Stocks of the packaging and container industry should be a good investment in the last part of 1997. However, in the polyethylene terephthalate segment demand was slower and prices of materials were higher. Sales of beverage and food cans rose, but margins suffered, as many suppliers switched to bottles. The outstanding stocks in this category for 1998 are Owens-Illinois, Ball Corp. and Crown Cork & Seal.
