Instead of considering unpopular options like increasing the pension age for baby boomers, increasing water charges etc., Australian authorities could consider investing in education, which will bear future rewards in terms of productivity.

Rain in Australia till now is not sufficient to fill rivers and dams so that allocation of irrigation water would improve the outlook of crops like cotton, oranges and sultanas. Conditions for wheat and other broadacre crops are better in Western Australia where a bumper of wheat crop is expected.
