Petroleum (integrated) industry
Article Abstract:
The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries production agreement has allowed the petroleum industry to realize higher prices in 1999 for the first time in almost two years and the supply-demand balance has also improved. A wave of large mergers is taking place in the industry, as well, and earnings are likely to improve, along with reserve replacements and costs. Poor earnings have made these stocks untimely in 1999, but there are favorable business prospects for the future of the industry.

Petroleum (integrated) industry
Article Abstract:
The tentative reduction in crude petroleum production announced by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries could support oil prices, but, as in the past, members may not comply with cutbacks. The industry could also be hurt by the continued imbalance in supply-demand levels which will affect industry prices in 1999. These stocks are untimely for 1999, but several have good price potential for the next three to five years.
