Power play
Article Abstract:
The biggest challenges for investors of Australian Gas Light (AGL) are how to benefit from abundant gas reserves in Australia and big changes in the industry including development of a $3-billion gas pipeline from Papua New Guinea. Investors of AGL are in dilemma whether to purchase gas producer or the pipeline operator. It is better to go for gas producers at a time of rising oil and gas prices since they are directly exposed to energy prices. If the investors want a stable income, then pipeline operators is a good choice. Government control on transmission tariffs further complicates this issue.
