The Australian government's new energy and environmental policies and the attitude of the renewable energy groups over the same are delineated. Public opinion towards recruiting Australia's best-known environmentalist, Peter Garrett, for the purpose of approving the government's energy review about the mandatory renewable energy target (MRET) is examined.
