Article Abstract:
Investors can expect stocks of the precision instrument industry to continue rising in the next three to five years, but at a slower rate than in 1996. Exports remain high, and the industry has cut costs by downsizing. Although consumer spending may slow down, industrial purchases are expected to continue, as companies need equipment to control pollution and increase safety standards. For the near term, not many timely stocks remain after considerable expansion in 1996.
