Predicting airline passenger volume

Article Abstract:

Neural networks are used to better handle nonlinear data and can therefore enhance the forecast of airline passenger volume. Data analysis shows that neural networks provide better results than other forecasting techniques particularly when the data pattern is difficult to generalize, such as regression and exponential smoothing. Test data of monthly international airline passengers between US and Mexico from January 1982 to December 1993 was used.
