Radio host is 'on a roll' with show for the disabled

With a loan from Bank of America Greg Smith launched a radio show from his parents' home in 1992. The reason: 34-yr.-old, 65-lb. Smith is wheelchair bound. His show to, for and about the disabled is now syndicated and reaches several hundred thousand listeners each week from Yellow Springs, Ohio. He's clever, smart, and a bit irreverent. He has attracted advertisers who recognize a sizeable market niche in the disabled, advertisers such as Microsoft and CellularOne. He has interviewed Bob Dole, Christopher Reeve and John Hockenberry.

This small bookstore offers readers shelter from cyberspace chill

Article Abstract:

When small independent bookstores were beginning to close due to the unbeatable competition of large chains, Politics and Prose opened on Connecticut Avenue 15 years ago. It is still going, but not with big profits. To try to boost sales and profits it will begin to offer Web site services like online bookselling and e-mail to its customers. But the two women who run it believe in the 'community' of their brick and mortar store amid real people.
