Article Abstract:
Concerns over industry mergers have caused most stocks of the railroad industry to decline during the 1sr qtr of the year 2000. Poor profitability and operating ratios, as well as service declines are some of the factors which have both shippers and investors concerned in the merger arena, even though consolidation is expected to continue.
