The Ramler Group manufactures and imports furniture. Its sales rose by 192% from 1992 to 1997, and its revenue was $29 million for 1997-1998. Contracts account for 60% of its revenue, and most of its retail sales are from imports. One change the family-owned and -operated business implemented because of rapid growth was an addition to its management structure of a middle management layer.

Australian winery Oakridge Estate raised $2 million (Australian) by offering investors 30% off on a case of wine per year for each 1,000 shares the investor owns. The company built its winery with this money, and has increased its share prices by 70% to $ .85 (Australian) since closing the offer. Oakridge was able to make this system work because of its famous brand name and reputation.
