The contrast by which children select books and adults select books for children is great. Adults prefer to read children books that teach a lesson, while children prefer books about adventures and depict adults as villains, as these books reflect their own fears. Series books are popular with children.

The anatomy of melancholy
Article Abstract:
A glut of books that describe personal experiences with depression demonstrates the public desire for such books, but also gives cause to examine their overall worth to society. Poetry featured self-examination of melancholy in the past, but new works present it in a new context.
