Article Abstract:
The Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) market for investors is not as impressive as other markets, due to uncertain future economic conditions and general skepticism. However, investors can expect a good return in relation to the amount of risk involved, especially in the office and lodging areas. The REIT market has been undergoing continual merger activity, due to easy credit, a strong economy during 1997 and a strong equity REIT market. Consequently, the public REIT market has grown dramatically, due to the increase in mergers and the resulting capitalization.
