Response to 'equilibrium strategies for final-offer arbitration: there is no median convergence'
Article Abstract:
In refutation of the arbitration model developed by Steven J. Brams and Samuel Merrill, III and published in the Management Science journal for August 1983, an arbitration model is developed based on final-offer arbitration. The model developed suggests that final-offer arbitration is an effective technique and discusses strategies behind the use of such technique. The earlier model developed by Brams and Merrill demonstrated the adverse operation of final offer arbitration, indicating that such techniques drive the parties involved farther apart rather than closer together. In final offer arbitration, the arbitrator must select one of the two parties' final offers, rather than developing a compromise position between the two parties to the arbitration.

Location on Networks: A Survey. Part I: The p-Center and the p-Median Problems
Article Abstract:
Network location problems occur when new facilities are to be located on a network. Constraints may be imposed so that new facilities are to be located on a network. Contraints may be imposed so that new facilities are not located too far from existing facilities. Typically the objective is to minimize either a sum of transport costs proportional to network travel distances between existing facilities or closest new facilities. Integer programming location problems have been eliminated from the survey.
