The securities industry has many leaders who once worked as runners, including some of the very biggest traders. This position involves taking customer orders from phone clerks to the pits for fill brokers. Runners typically earn about one hundred dollars weekly. They have the challenging job of dealing with pit traders volatile moods. Many experts believe the only way to start in the industry is as a runner. There are about two thousand runners in the United States. Runners tend to be quite young. Runners are excited by a hectic market. Runners must be physically fast and agile. Runners try to avoil elbows and pencils in the pit. Delivering the right order to the right pit is the essence of the job.

Choosing first class transportation has become difficult because of the excellence in performance and standards common to all models. Price competition is fierce. Government direct taxing of drivers makes executives with kids in college want a Ford instead of a Jaguar.
