The Russian Congress of the People's Deputies on Dec 14, 1992, voted to confirm Deputy Premier Viktor Chernomyrdin as premier. The vote was the outcome of a political deal between the Congress and Pres Boris Yeltsin. Acting Premier Yegor Gaidar resigned following Chernomyrdin's confirmation.

Russian Congress summoned to vote on Yeltsin's future as president

Russian Pres Boris Yeltsin March 20, 1993, implemented special emergency powers in response to a widening confrontation with his opponents in the Congress of the People's Deputies led by Ruslan Khasbulatov. Yeltsin's action caused many of his opponents to call for his impeachment.

The Congress of the People's Deputies (Russia) voted 486-467 with 22 abstentions to deny confirmation of acting Premier Yegor T. Gaidar. The vote was a serious setback for Pres Boris Yeltsin because Gaidar was his personal selection for the office.
