Many companies such as National Australia Bank (NAB), Telstra are trimming down their workforce. Several reasons for layoffs include increased competition, falling profits, cost-cutting and shift of production overseas. Companies need to humanize retrenchment process. NAB has an online job centre where in redundant staff are re deployed to a suitable role. If no suitable role is found they will be offered an outplacement programme through an external provider.
