Storming the OJ wars, Pepsi to buy Tropicana
Article Abstract:
PepsiCo Inc. will acquire Tropicana Products Inc., which is owned by the Seagram Co., for $3.3 billion as part of a strategy to offer new competition to rival Coca-Cola Co., which owns Minute Maid, in the breakfast table juice business. Industry analysts are questioning PepsiCo's move into the competitive juice business at a time when the company is trying to recover from big financial losses two years ago and a recent loss of market share in the beverage business.Tropicana Products will be a separate division of PepsiCo. following its acquisition.
