Germany's Computer 2000 is seeking to expand with move into U.S. market
Article Abstract:
Computer 2000 of Germany is using its recent acquisition of AmeriQuest Technologies to enter the highly competitive US computer distributer market. The highly profitable Computer 2000 is also fending off advances made by the US distributers Ingram Micro and Merisol into the Computer 2000-dominated European market. However, Computer 2000 is experiencing difficulty consolidating AmeriQuest's assets and reorganizing the company to best exploit its strengths. AmeriQuest has been unprofitable for several years, and Computer 2000's task of turning the company into a money-maker is expected to take at least until early 1996. The European distribution market is presently seeing inroads made by small and niche value-added distributers, and Computer 2000 is attempting to enter this region of the market with its own line of low-cost PC computers.

Scanning the Web for a world of stock market tips
Article Abstract:
Small investors who want current information on foreign stock markets can often find it on the World Wide Web. More and more foreign exchanges are publishing information to the Web, although the quality of the information varies widely. Some offer little more than background information and very general monthly summaries, yet many more offer better currency or are in the process of developing it. Investment reports on specific companies are only available occasionally, however. While a few services are offered in only one language, most offer English as well. Investors will need patience to use the Web, however, due to intermittent service, download times that vary considerably and sporadic updating at many exchanges.
