Staff as important as performance
Article Abstract:
The funds management market in Australia is globally sophisticated, but the market tends to be delicate because institutional investors do not have the depth of choices as they do in the United States, and that fund activity tends to stagnate when key staff leave a firm, despite good fund performance. When firms are put on hold by consultants due to staff changes, money needs to find a new home. Australian equities comprise about 40% of the $360 billion in superannuation funds, meaning at least $14 billion of "new money" is looking to be invested in equities each year.

Bourse baulks at warrant risk
Article Abstract:
The Australian trading warrant market is reinventing itself, as investors seek Internet and resource stocks. Trading warrants turnover fell from $318 million in February 1999 to $175 million in June 1999. Warrants have declined because warrant issuers missed the resources rally by not issuing new products, and the warrants over AMP and Cable and Wireless Optus Ltd. failed. To attract investors, issuers are selling investment and installment warrants and may be launching warrants over the Internet.
