Food processing
Article Abstract:
Growth is expected to be modest for the larger capitalized companies in the food industry during 1999 as raising sales will be difficult. Many companies will divest themselves of underperforming product lines and non-core areas, and acquisitions and consolidation within the industry is expected to continue as well. These stocks are only mediocre selections for investors in 1999, and stocks ranked as the most timely should be favored.

Steel (general) industry
Article Abstract:
Modest growth is predicted for the 1999 steel (general) industry, but the 1998 market is under cautionary review. It has not yet felt the full impact of the Asian financial crisis; however, the industry's fundamentals remain stable. Worthington and Nucor are two potential opportunities, but investors are advised to watch for Timeliness improvements before committing.

Steel (general) industry
Article Abstract:
The steel (general) industry, which is comprised of a wide variety of companies that produce carbon steel from many sources, has not been sharing in the good US economy of the late 1990s. Steel prices are falling and demand has also plateaued, but this could change with better economic conditions overseas. Investors will not find these stocks to be timely in 1999.
