Stochastic judgments in the AHP: the measurement of rank reversal probabilities
Article Abstract:
A study evaluates probabilistic and statistical approaches in analyzing rank reversal properties of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) methodology with uncertain pairwise comparison judgments. Simulation experiments are used to analyze outranking and rank reversal properties of AHP under a given uncertainty. One of the approaches that is used to evaluate AHP is grounded on relative sample frequencies and does not consider the distribution of attribute weights. The second approach includes the assumption of multivariate normality of attribute weights.

Contractor accreditation: a probabilistic model
Article Abstract:
A model has been developed for contractor accreditation using probabilistic functions to assess their potential for completing contractual requirements. The model's strength lies in its use of probabilistic indices for each contractor, which is not only used to assess contractor's ability to fulfill requirements but also in evaluating level of research to be done on each contractor's abilities. Much of the efficiency of the probabilistic model is dependent on the quality and volume of data.

Optimizing natural gas flows with linear programming and scenarios
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on a linear programming model developed to assist an electric utility in formulating long- and short-term operating decisions. Findings showed that variations of the linear programming model offer insights into daily operations and valuation of supply contracts. Moreover, the important characteristics of the model include the accommodation of gas contract structures, the use of market forecasts of gas prices, and the usage of a gas storage facility.
