Strategies as Discursive Constructions: The Case of Airline Alliances
Article Abstract:
Five discursive practice types are identified and discussed within the framework of the aviation industry. These are problemization of traditional strategies; objectification, factualization, and rationalization of alliance advantages; fixation of ambiguous autonomy concerns; reframing cooperation difficulties as implementation issues; and naturalization of alliance strategies.

Language and the Circuits of Power in a Merging Multinational Corporation
Article Abstract:
The merger between a Swedish and a Finnish bank, and the resultant adoption of the Swedish language as the corporate language, is examined for its effects on organizational communication, social networks, and professional competence. Discussion includes post-colonial and neo-colonial concepts of domination emerging in multinational firms.
