Strike forces GM plant closures

United Automobile Workers union members went on strike at two General Motors plants in Dayton, OH, over the issue of outsourcing for parts. The plants manufacture almost 90% of the parts used in the braking systems of all GM vehicles, and the strike is liable to have economic ramifications.
