Developments in different sectors such as electricity generation, water, gas distribution, etc seem to have been stalled as the Federal government of Australia has been showing laid back attitude. There need to be a coordinated effort on managing the infrastructure that will sustain the development. The two perspectives on which the infrastructure heavily depends on is the tax treatment of infrastructure and federal funding.

The Reserve Bank of Australia has contributed nearly Australian $22 billion to federal revenue over the last 10 years, managed primarily by its adroit trading of currency. Despite being last year's most profitable Australian enterprise, the bank may lose Australian $250 million in earnings in the upcoming year because of changes in trading structure.

Local governments should not be involved in large-scale infrastructure projects such as residential and commercial developments. The Oasis project in Sydney was the most ambitious development undertaken by a local council in Australia.
