A review of the changes to the Australian tax system which are due to be implemented in Jul. 1, 2000. The changes will have implications for the superannuation scheme. The cost of health insurance will also be changed from Jul. 1, 2000, leading to increased insurance premiums for some groups of people.

The Medicare reforms in Australia have become a boon for general practitioners and healthcare industry. The country has witnessed a massive jump in its Medicare expenditure. In 2004, Medicare payments were $8.6 billion. Against this the payments in 2005 financial year are $9.9 billion.
