Technical Innovation: Is It Part of Your Strategic Planning Process?
Article Abstract:
A structured approach is advocated for the selection and evaluation of new technologies. Technological innovation is necessary for a company to remain competitive, avoid technical obsolescence and increase market share. Options open to companies seeking new technology include internal development, joint venture agreements, acquisition/merger, outside development and purchasing and licensing. A diagram provides an outline of the technical innovation process. A plan for technological innovation helps management make decisions and meet goals.

Article Abstract:
Ongoing planning systems are often in need of an effective method of management. Such a tool would be used to periodically examine and adjust a planning system. An auditing philosophy if properly used should be able to communicate problems in the systems. A Planning Process Audit (PPA) questionnaire is offered as an example. The audit must be kept brief and to the point.
