Texas Instruments and IBM to pursue manufacturing-automation projects
Article Abstract:
Texas Instruments (TI) and IBM agree to undertake large-scale manufacturing-automation projects in the electronics industry. Although IBM has made over a dozen similar agreements within the last six months, it is TI's first foray into the systems integration market. Under the terms of the agreement, TI will become one of approximately 16 companies that IBM keeps on file for specific projects. TI's expertise lies in plant floor automated systems. TI benefits from the arrangement by being able to utilize IBM's marketing power and by the opportunity to preview IBM's hardware developments.
