Article Abstract:
A brief review of the economic trends in United States during 2005 is presented. Economy grew by almost 4 percent in a scenario where interest rates climbed up and so did the oil prices. Demand for housing, when compared to historical trends, seems healthy. Based on the prevailing economic conditions, a moderate growth in 2006 is not ruled out. Federal Reserve will also continue to hike interest rates. Stock markets will have a good year.

A brief review of the United States' economy and stock markets as of August 5, 2005, is furnished. Homebuilding industry continues to perform well. Performance of other industries in August 2005 has also been good. Based on these industrial performances and risks from oil markets and international events, the trends in stock markets and economy are forecasted.
