The case for earned value
Article Abstract:
Earned Value involves project assessment that takes into consideration not only the costs incurred within a given time frame but also how near is the project to its goal. Earned Value is manifested in progress or status reports, the crucial performance indicators that have been rigorously applied by Levi Strauss and are integral to its production system. Traditional managers do not implement Earned Value as a tool, not realizing that meeting the customers' objectives help in realizing their goal of maximizing capital.

What's the value of earned value?
Article Abstract:
Earned Value is a method of analyzing budget earned for work completed within a certain period and is a crucial project management tool for budget control. The tool, which is a performance indicator, is used by cost account managers, resource managers, finance managers, and executive managers. Earned Value provides information regarding critical project areas or stages that need immediate attention. It also gives a more comprehensive view of a project's viability.

Earned value analysis: a case study
Article Abstract:
Earned Value is a project management tool that regularly measures performance to determine the correlation between the costs incurred and goal attainment. Three basic values used in Earned Value analysis are the budgeted cost of work scheduled, the budgeted cost of work performed and the actual cost of work performed. These data could generate the graphics for the Earned Value implementation shared by Tom Ingram in 'PM Network' last Dec. 1995.
