The char mark conspiracy
Article Abstract:
Most fast-food chains that sell grilled chicken are not fresh, but are defrosted, pre-cooked chicken strips that are mechanically branded at a factory to look like they are hot off the grill. The chicken breasts are not grilled over an open flame but are baked and then branded with 'char marks' by using red-hot branding wheels to burn grill marks on the surface of chicken breasts, as they emerge from the oven.
