The contribution of external service inputs to the product development efforts of small manufacturing firms
Article Abstract:
The contribution of external inputs to the innovation performance of small manufacturing companies in the state of New York is evaluated based on the data gathered through a survey of 4-sector respondents. Innovation performance is improved by external sources of professional, technical, and scientific support, but firms whose majority of revenues is gained from enhance products opt to employ perfectly designed patterns of external knowledge procurement. Above average expenditure on external support exists in small manufacturing firms with a good internal technical expertise.
